Event Details

This program will help controllers and other financial professionals improve their ability to communicate with investors, boards of directors, senior executives, and cross-functional management teams.  Aimed at the needs of the controller, you will learn to use effectively tools such as dashboards, PowerPoint, and others to help stakeholders see beyond the numbers and to help them manager their businesses.  Our speakers include CFOs, venture capitalists, and a director from the leading web-based ERP system. 

 

Alicia Amaral CFO, Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group

Alicia Amaral is the Chief Financial Officer of Sentinel Financial Group. With strong experience that spans a 15-plus year career, Alicia is responsible for all aspects of Sentinel’s financial functions including: corporate accounting, tax and internal control. Most recently, Alicia served as the Interim CFO for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Prior to that, she was with the engineering firm of Haley & Aldrich, Inc., and the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen, LLP. 

Alicia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Furman University and a Master of Science in Accountancy degree from Bentley College. She is a licensed CPA and a Certified Valuation Analyst. She holds a FINRA Series 27 securities license. She is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, Financial Executives International and the CFO Roundtable.

Rick Darer, CFO, Gomez

Rick has over 25 years of high-tech financial and operations experience. He has held numerous leadership roles within private and public corporations managing finance, accounting & treasury, legal, human resources, IT and operations. Rick's most recent role was SVP & Chief Financial Officer at Gomez, a internet infrastructure company, where he contributed to growing the company four-fold during his tenure that culminated in a sale of the Company to Compuware. Previously, Rick was CFO at Unica Corp. and led a successful IPO offering while Unica grew to $100m in revenue. Rick has also held CFO roles at Modus Media International, White Pine Software and Gensym Corporation and various financial and operations positions at large organizations including Computervision Corporation and General Electric.

Rick holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an M.S. in industrial engineering from Northeastern University, and a B.S. in mathematics from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.

Claire Wadlington, Partner and CFO, FA Technolgoy Ventures.

Prior to joining F.A. Ventures, Claire Wadlington served as vice president of finance and chief financial officer of Cayman Systems, Inc. She was a member of the management team that sold Cayman to Netopia, Inc. She worked as an investment banker for nearly a dozen years and has extensive experience handling public and private market transactions at First Albany Corporation, Lazard Freres & Co., and The First Boston Corporation.

Claire  is a director of privately-held Adapt Media, serves on the executive board of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge, and on the board of trustees of Christopher House, Inc., Christopher House Assisted Living, and the Women's Union . She is also a member of The Boston Club. She earned her B.A. from Yale University and her M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jeffrey Winn, Account Executive, NetSuite Inc. 

In his role as an account executive for NetSuite, Jeff Winn is charged with the management of sales strategy and execution for the North East territory of the United States. An expert in business processes, technical details and accounting, Jeff is a top revenue producing account executive at NetSuite. He joined NetSuite in March 2003 as a sales engineer and led his peers as a valuable resource for customers and internal staff alike for the first five years. Jeff came to NetSuite with more than 10 years of experience in CRM and ERP sales and development. Prior to joining NetSuite, he held a variety of sales and systems engineering roles with other industry players, including Pivotal and Onyx. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.A. in Accounting from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
